Sports have always been a big part of David’s life growing up. Hockey, Rugby and Soccer were some his favorite sports.
Dave discovered his true passion in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) back in 2009 and made his professional debut the same year. Nicknamed “Showtime’’ by his family and friends for always putting on exciting fights, he has competed against some of the best competitors across Canada.
The basis of his martial arts journey began with an obsession over Bruce Lee which translated into the study of Bruce Lee`s Jeet Kune Do Concepts and the Filipino Martial Arts in which he has become a Certified Instructor.
Dave has attained his brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Megaton Dias, under Sensei Trevor Clarkson : Team Megaton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You can find him competing in local tournaments and testing his skills any way he can. Over the last few years Dave has been adding specific skills to his arsenal including; Boxing & Kickboxing , Wrestling and Muay-Thai. Learning from various coaches and professional fighters across the lower mainland and Canada to improve his knowledge and skills in Mma, Dave recognizes that this process is a lifelong journey and a lifestyle.
As an avid sports and fitness enthusiast, David recently became a certified Personal Trainer under CFES (Canadian Fitness Education Services) as he continues his journey of fitness and knowledge. Always happy to help out, don’t shy away from asking him any questions. All aspects of training are a huge part of his life and he is always willing to share the knowledge he has acquired thus far.
Martial arts has had several positive impacts on his life and he recommends it to everyone who asks. “Martial Arts Training is the best habit I could have ever picked up, learning how to fight is alot of fun and getting in awesome shape is just an added bonus…I can’t picture my life without martial arts! ” David Perron
